Diabetes

5 08 2008

Diabetes is a disease caused due to disorder in body metabolism and inconsistent high blood sugar. This causes insufficient level of hormone insulin results in less production of insulin by pancreas.

Body gets energy from the food we eat and converts it into glucose, which then transferred into blood cells. Pancreas produces insulin, which is the medium from transferring the glucose in body cells. Insulin acts like a key for glucose to enter blood cells. In the cell glucose is burned to produce energy.

When pancreas stops producing insulin and prevents the glucose to enter blood cells, the person is said to have diabetes.

The glucose in body is then extracted through other channels like excessive urination, the body water level goes down which causes increase in thirst…etc.

In severe cases diabetics can get blurred vision, loose partial or full eye sight, kidney damage, obesity and can suffer with low immunity.

Diabetes is mainly of three types Type-1, type-2 and Gestational diabetes.
